Will you be joining Harry & Meghan on their Royal honeymoon,Down Under?
Rumour has it that the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aka Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be be delaying their honeymoon until later this year. The big question is, where will they go? Is it just coincidence that Harry is the patron for The Invictus Games and will be in Sydney for the games from 20-27th October? We think not. What a perfect time to plan a trip to Australia. Australia has a tonne of romantic places fit for royalty so we’ve gathered up a few of our favourite hideaways for you to check out… honeymoon or not, at least you won’t have FOMO.
Cape Lodge
The Margaret River hideout. Located on its own vineyard, maybe Harry and Meghan will be hiding away on this country estate. With Vasse Felix, Moss Wood and Leewin as your neighbors you won’t have to go far for extensive gourmet experiences if you’ve had enough of Cape Lodge’s own restaurant, which has been voted ‘Top Ten in the World for Food’ by Conde Nast Travellers Gold List. The lodge itself boasts 22 romantically secluded rooms and a 5 bedroom luxury residence for the perfect escape. With rooms available in October from only $400 per night on Cheaptickets.sg, flights to Perth from only $388 and over 80 deals on Food, Wine & Tours and more in Western Australia right now, do you need any more reasons to book your own hideaway?
Some of the amazing seasonal food at Cape Lodge.
Lord Howe Island
Think Epic landscapes of mountains right to the beach and quiet secluded spots with places such as ‘Lovers Bay’ to hangout in. With visitors to the island capped at 400 and an extra flight needed from Sydney to this 10km long island Harry and Meghan, and you are sure to be able to find their own little spot of paradise on this lesser known part of New South Wales. FYI With the connecting flight only allowing 14kg total luggage per person you need to pack lightly. Flights to Sydney start from only $511 at the moment, but the top up to Lord Howe will set you back another $1000, let us know if you make it!
Byron Bay
You might not be flying into the bay area on your private helicopter (aka Chris Hemsworth style, just one of the famous local residents) but you bet that Harry and Meghan have this trendy location on their must do list, and rightly so. It’s a top pick for more than a pit stop towards the end of our Legendary Pacific Self Drive from Sydney. Park yourself for a couple of day at The Byron at Byron from $350 per night and wonder through the exclusive hotels grounds through the rainforest to the beach. Dining in? Better try The Byron at Byron Burger, at The Byron at Byron in Byron Bay. We dare you. Looking to bring the romance? Get the hotel to pack you a picnic and head up to the famous lighthouse for dusk, mind closing time for the carpark though! Byron Bay itself has a tonne of hipster coffee joints and cafes to while your day away in, after a day spent learning to surf with the gorgeous locals.
Freycinet National Park, aka Wineglass Bay
When you think of Tasmania, what do you think of? For us, it's the amazing food (oysters!! Also known to be an aphrodisiac...) and the glorious unspoilt beaches. Meghan has referred to her love of wine many many times in interviews and lip readers tell us that Harry told Meghan he needed a drink in the royal carriage on the way back to the castle so one particular place that has all of this and more for Harry and Meghan’s special trip springs to mind… Wineglass Bay. This secluded haven on the eastern side of The South Australian Island of Tasmania has their name on it. Tasmania not only has a host of amazing wines but also award winning gins, whiskeys and beers… with everything on offer you are going to need to take the iconic hike up to the Wineglass Bay lookout to burn off some of the calories from your stay!
Another amazing reason to #lovetassie
This is called bioluminescent phytoplankton, commonly referred to as 'sea sparkles'. This pic was snapped down at South Arm Peninsula near Hobart. It's not possible to predict the timing of the sea sparkles, but if you're heading to Tassie, you might just be lucky enough to witness this fantastic phenomenon. If this isn't romantic then…
The Great Barrier Reef
Home to a heart shaped reef this 2,300km stretch of marine life is rightfully one of the seven wonders of the natural world. If Harry really wants to get his romance on he will be whisking Meghan off in a flight over this iconic shaped reef before sailing around the white sand beaches of The Whitsundays. Book up a stay in advance on one of the few hotels on Hamilton Island to ensure your front row ticket to the love show.
