Lunar New Year (late January)

This is a public holiday throughout the nation, the Lunar New Year is welcomed with a series of festivities and celebrations.

Java Jazz Festival (March)

This is one of the biggest musical events in Jakarta. Both national and international musicians participate in this festival and is usually help in the Jakarta International Expo.

Jakarta International Kite Festival (July)

This festival showcases local and international kites. Competitions and events are held in the Ancol area in north Jakarta.

Independence Day (August)

Held on the 17th of August, this holiday celebrates Indonesia's independence. There are a lot of neighbourhood celebrations through out the country. The main event however is the flag hoisting ceremony at the presidential palace.
