Full Moon Day of Tabaung or Tagu (March)

This is the main religious festival of Hindus in Myanmar, where rituals like fire walking attracts many participants and spectators from across and outside the country.

Thingyan Water Festival (April)

This festival is held to celebrate the Myanmar New Year. The festival lasts for several days and is started with a good and whole hearted water throwing. Any form of vessel that carries water can be used to participate in the water festival, just make sure you are ready for some water on that day.

The Kason Festival (May)

Celebrating the day Buddha was born, this festival falls on the day of the full moon of Kason in the Myanmar Calendar.

Elephant Dance Festival (October)

Towns near Yangon celebrate this festival. Two giant paper elephants, one black, one white, with two men inside each elephant, dance through the town. Numerous life-size dummy elephants sing and dance to the accompaniment of music.
