This festival, held at the end of November in the township of Soweto, has over forty brands of beer from around the world to be sampled with some of the finest local food. Visitors are able to experience the vibrancy of this colourful township and enjoy performances from local artists and performers.
At the end of September at the Central Johannesburg College, the Jozi Book Fair runs for two days and promotes South African literature. Numerous live readings, workshops, lectures and discussions can be attended and each year a distinguished guest is invited.
Mid-September sees this annual jazz festival, which is now 19 years old, showcasing South African artists and international jazz figures. There are roughly 35 performances on four stages, over the course of three days, with thousands of visitors each year.
