First off, when anyone is visiting Kunming they need to make sure and visit the Stone Forest. It is a unique place that shows how erosion can make beautiful works of art. There are intricate stone formations all over the Stone Forest but if you would like to avoid the large touristy crowds then Naigu Stone Forest is a great area to head to. Heading there in the months of September to November you can see the tickseed flower blossom all throughout the park.

The best time to visit Kunming is from March to October. This time frame has the most festivals that are celebrated and the scenery is diverse.
