You like blue skies, fine wines and great food? We have you covered on this itinerary sharing more of what The Margaret River region has to offer...
Familiarise yourself and take in the city from a scenic river cruise along Perth's Swan River - a relaxing way to start your trip to Western Australia. To whet your appetite with fresh local produce choose from the endless line up of bars and restaurants, particularly in Perth's West End. Expect funky cafes, swanky bars, and intimate restaurants!
Take a scenic 3-hour drive by the coastline of Geographe Bay south along the Bussell Highway to Busselton and Dunsborough. Stop for lunch at Busselton Jetty to view the longest timbre jetty in the Southern hemisphere and take a train ride along this 1.8km heritage listed site. If yhou are visiting between May - September, you might spot whales from the jetty!
Famed for its fine wine, take time to meet the makers at over 100 wineries in the region where you can explore from the cellar door to award winning restaurants. There is more to Margaret River than wine, explore boutique breweries, art galleries and fresh produce stores selling olive oil, chocolates, nougat and jams all produced in this region.
Whilst we would always recommend spending a little longer in The Margaret River Region, no trip to this area is complete without driving onwards along the coast to Augusta to visit the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, the meeting point of the Indian & Southern Oceans before heading deep into karri tree country to reach the old timer milling town of Pemberton.
Heading north via the Vasse Highway and South Western Highway, you’ll reach Manjimup in just under 30 minutes. Here, you can get a taste of the sensation that’s coveted by top chefs the world over – WA black truffles – as well as a few more cool climate wines in an area that is fast becoming known as the Food Bowl of WA.
